Seven Year (4 + 3) Pre-Dental Advantage Programs
7-Year Combined Baccalaureate/Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree Program
In order to earn a Baccalaureate degree from College of the Pacific and receive an admission interview for the School of Dentistry, you must meet the following requirements:
Although you will be assigned to a freshman faculty advisor during summer orientation, you must select a predental advisor and complete the appropriate change-of-advisor form by October of your freshman year. This form is available in the Dean's Office at the College of the Pacific (COP).
During your four years at COP, you must complete a major and all other College of the Pacific graduation requirements (124 units). These requirements include the College's 42 unit General Education Program and the quantitative and basic reading and writing skills requirements. When you apply to the Dugoni School of Dentistry, several grade point averages (GPAs) will be calculated. Each The following GPAs are considered, and each must be 3.05 or higher: overall GPA (all coursework), Pacific GPA (all coursework at Pacific), Science GPA (all Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), and Pacific Science GPA (all Biology, Chemistry, and Physics courses taken at Pacific). Furthermore, you must complete a minimum of 100 semester units.
While in COP, you must complete the following School of Dentistry admission requirements: one year of general chemistry, one year of organic chemistry, four semesters of biological science, one year of physics as well as Pacific Seminars 1, 2, and 3.
During your freshman year, you must complete Biology 51 and 61, Chemistry 25 and 27, Pacific Seminars 1 and 2, and at least one other general education course per term. Please take a copy of this letter with you when you meet with your freshman faculty advisor to register for courses during summer orientation.
You must take the Dental Admission Test by September 1 of your senior year and achieve a score of 18 or above on all scales. DAT application forms are available on the web.
You must complete all School of Dentistry application requirements, which includes: completing an AADSAS application by September 1 of your senior year (AADSAS forms are available on the web), submitting letters of evaluation from at least three science faculty members (including your predental advisor) or two science faculty members (including your predental advisor) and a practicing dentist whom you have shadowed, successfully complete an interview with faculty at the School of Dentistry and submit the $75 nonrefundable application fee.
