High School Students

All of the following qualifications must be met to apply for high school students:

Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Be a first-generation college student (Neither parent/guardian has earned a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in the U.S.)
Be a Stockton resident for at least the past 3 years.
Apply for admission as a new incoming undergraduate student to University of the Pacific, for the Fall 2021 semester.
Be awarded a Cal Grant A or B and a Pell Grant at Pacific - Click HERE for more information.
Have evidence of involvement and volunteerism in the community.
Be committed to using your education to improve the Stockton community.

Transfer Students

All of the following qualifications must be met to apply for transfer students:

Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
Be a first-generation college student (Neither parent/guardian has earned a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in the U.S.)
Apply for admission to University of the Pacific as a new transfer student from San Joaquin Delta College (SJDC) for the Fall 2021 semester and satisfy the following additional requirements:Be awarded a full Cal Grant A or B and Pell Grant at Pacific.
- Fulfillment of Pacific's Fundamental Skills requirement
- Sufficient progress towards completing pre-requisite courses towards the intended major at Pacific
- Complete at least 60 transferable units (at least 36 from Delta College) to Pacific by the end of the Spring 2021 semester
- Residency requirements are waived for SJDC transfer students.
Have evidence of involvement and volunteerism in the community.

The CIP review process examines the applicant's community awareness and involvement as well as potential for civic engagement. This process places substantial emphasis on these aspects of the applicant's background, which should be clearly reflected in the personal statement and letters of recommendation. Applicants who successfully complete Phase 1 of the application process will be notified and invited to participate in Phase 3, which includes an on-campus interview .

All accepted students must attend a mandatory CIP retreat the first week of August.

FAQ's

I can not submit my application. What should I do?	The application portal opens November 1^st and closes January 15^th. If you are unable to submit your application during this time, please email cip@pacific.edu.
I am a current student at University of the Pacific, can I apply when the application opens for next year?	CIP is an access program for incoming high school freshman or transfer students from San Joaquin Delta college. This program helps close the gap between college aspirations and college enrollment for eligible students. If you are enrolled in classes, at the University essentially you do not need access.
I would like to start school in the the Spring semester, can I apply to CIP?	Our program is on track with traditional admittance, as a result our scholarship program begins every Fall.
Can I use my CIP scholarship at another campus? Such as Sacramento or San Francisco?	CIP is only available to students who attend classes on the University of the Pacific's Stockton campus.
Do I have to have a Pell and Cal grant?	Yes. Pell and Cal grant(s) are required of the program.

What is community service?	Community service is helping in your community with impact without receiving monetary compensation.
How many hours of community service do I need?	We are more concerned about the "impact" of your community service rather than the amount of community service
What does my GPA have to be to be accepted?	Our GPA requirement for the program is at least a 3.0.
How do I know what units will transfer to Pacific?	Before the process of applying, we suggest that you speak with an admissions counselor. Admission counselors will be happy to look over your transcript to make sure that you meet the requirement for admissions for Pacific and the requirements for our program.
What if my letters of recommendation are not in on time?	The process to get into the program is very competitive. Once the portal is closed on the deadline, we are unable to received letters of recommendation.

Is the retreat required? How long is the retreat?	The retreat is mandatory; it is the final phase of your scholarship acceptance. It is a 3-day retreat. Not attending will forfeit your scholarship.
How much will my CIP scholarship be?	This is a need-based scholarship, meaning the scholarship amount varies based on your financial needs. The needs are determined by the information submitted via your FAFSA application.
How many hours of community service is expected after acceptance to the program?	Hours are not required. However, it is encouraging to create and support programming and events that help enrich the Stockton community.
Can I live on campus/in dorms? (Room and Board)	We have an application process to live on campus (it is not guaranteed) that will allow you to live on campus. However, only the housing (room) portion is covered by CIP, food (board) is not covered.
Once you are in the program, do you have to reapply?	No, once you are in, you are in.
