Life in the Trenches: The Horrors of the First World War
The First World War was one of the most brutal conflicts during the twentieth century. This was largely due to the modernization of warfare as machine guns, airplanes, tanks, and mustard gas made their battlefield debuts. Consequently, the order to go over the top and leave the safety of the trenches was equivalent to a death sentence. Through a series of films, lectures, and eyewitness accounts this course will offer you a frontline glimpse of the horrors of The War to End All Wars and also its terrible cost.
