Athletic Training - Bachelor of Science

The Athletic Training program is no longer accepting new declarations for the Bachelor Science major or for transfer student admission. Students currently pursuing the major will be allowed to complete the degree as outlined in the general catalog.

University of the Pacific hosts the only accredited Athletic Training Program at a private university in Northern California.  The undergraduate major of Athletic Training (Bachelor of Science) at University of the Pacific prepares individuals to become certified athletic trainers in a variety of health care settings.  Pacific's Athletic Training (AT) Program equips graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in this competitive health care profession.  The AT program is housed within the Department of Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences in the College of the Pacific.

About the Athletic Training Program 

University of the Pacific's (Pacific) Athletic Training Program (AT Program) is an entry-level undergraduate program designed to prepare students for entry into the athletic training profession according to the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Individuals who want to become certified athletic trainers must earn a degree from a CAATE-accredited program and pass a national certification exam administered by the Board of Certification, INC (BOC). Pacific's AT Program earned initial accreditation in May 2003 and was granted continuing accreditation status in August 2008.  The AT program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).  In September 2018, the program was granted full accrediation through 2022 - 2023 by the CAATE -- 6850 Austin Center Blvd., Suite 100, Austin, TX 78731-3101. Students graduating from Pacific's CAATE accredited program are eligible to sit for the BOC examination.
