Creative kindergarten teacher back with pandemic safety advice

Jul 10, 2020

Ben Cogswell ’04 has gained an online following for his innovative—and boisterous—approaches to teaching kindergarten.

Cogswell, who earned his education degree from University of the Pacific, teaches in Alisal Union School District in Salinas. He was featured in the  New York Times as a “model modern educator” who blends in-class and online learning.

What has he been up to recently? Cogswell blended his puppet shows with the singing and dancing of his facemask-clad children for a YouTube video urging safety measures during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The backdrop for his message: the “Baby Shark” song. He offers advice for children and adults.

Cogswell has a Facebook pageYouTube channel and Twitter account ( @kindrockets).

He was profiled recently in Positively Pacific.
