Shane Kalbach is co-teaching String Techniques II at the Conservatory of Music and has been the preparatory orchestra conductor for Pacific Youth Symphony’s since 2005 (formerly Central Valley Youth Symphony). He is also the orchestra director at Lincoln High School, Sierra Middle School and Don Riggio School in Stockton. He received his BA in Music Performance and Theory/Composition from California State University, Sacramento in 2004. He later went to Teacher’s College of San Joaquin for a credential. He is vice president of the San Joaquin County Honor Orchestra presented by the San Joaquin County Office of Education.
Shane has over 20 years of experience teaching string instruments to students of all ages, covering various styles and genres. He began teaching music during his senior year in high school as a teacher's assistant. At that time he became involved with summer music programs, including Pacific Music Camp starting in 2006. He is an active freelance performer on violin, viola and bluegrass fiddle. He is often writing and arranging music for his students’ various settings as well as for his own performances.
