Example Plans to Completion

Examples of Progress for Completing a B.A. in Religious Studies

The following are examples of how a student might progress toward the completion of the major requirements in the course of their study. The faculty of the Department of Religious Studies highly recommends that each student majoring in the department also add a second major or at least a minor in the course of their study in addition to the major in Religious Studies.

Academic requirements for the B.A. in Religious Studies may be found here.

Pathway for San Joaquin Delta Community College Students to a B.A. in Religious Studies

General Education
:
Complete as many University of the Pacific General Education Program Breadth Requirements at Delta as possible.

The Religious Studies Major
Major Requirements: Minimum 36 units

Delta Students: If you have completed your general education requirements at Delta, you can easily complete the B.A. in Religious Students at University of the Pacific without transferring any Delta courses into the major. 36 units are nine courses, which can be completed in four semesters at University of the Pacific by taking two RELI courses per semester for two years, plus taking the senior seminar (see below) in your final year.

We will, however, give Delta students credit toward completing our major requirements by transferring specific Delta courses, as detailed below. No more than 10 units in the major may be completed outside University of the Pacific.

As many Delta courses are three units, a Delta student will find that even with the transfer of three courses from Delta (9 units), s/he will still need 27 units to complete the B.A. at University of the Pacific. As all RELI courses at Pacific are 4 units, the transfer student should plan on taking seven 4 unit courses at Pacific to complete the major requirements or six 4 unit courses plus an internship of at least 3 units.
