Laura Hallberg, EdD Program Lead l Assistant Professor | lhallberg@pacific.edu Faculty Profile l LinkedIn Affiliated with EdD, Transformative Action in Education Dr. Laura Hallberg has worked in just about every aspect of our educational system: as a middle and high school teacher and vice-principal, at the district level, and as a graduate-level instructor at colleges and universities. She developed, coordinated, and taught in an award-winning California Partnership Academy in an East Bay high school. As Senior Program Manager at Pivot Learning, a nonprofit school revitalization venture in Oakland, she oversaw two major programs: supporting high school redesign for college and career readiness, and a school improvement network of rural/isolated districts in the Antelope Valley. Dr. Hallberg's research interests include equity leadership, social-emotional learning, and academic achievement, and school climate and culture. She is Program Lead in Stockton for Benerd's EdD Transformational Action in Education.

Rocio Weiss Adjunct Professor | rockweiss@gmail.com | LinkedIn Affiliated with EdD, Transformative Action in Education Dr. Rocio Weiss is an experienced educational leader. She has served as a classroom teacher, school site administrator, and district administrator during her more than 30-year career as a K12 educator. Rocio worked for 10 years as a high school principal in the San Diego Unified School District, one of the largest districts in California. During her tenure as principal, she collaborated with teachers to design and launch three career-focused academies in an effort to better prepare high school students for college and career. She is a creative action-oriented leader who is dedicated to serving and transforming the lives of culturally and linguistically diverse students. She currently works at Lincoln High School in San Diego and at Oceanside High School where she has collaborated with district and school leaders, teachers, and families to transform the way high school students experience learning.

John Watkins Adjunct Professor l johnmw356@gmail.com l LinkedIn Affiliated with EdD, Transformative Action in Education John Watkins has over thirty years' experience in consulting, coaching, designing, facilitating, researching, and evaluating in school and school district improvement efforts. Currently, he is Co-Director of the Deeper Learning Dozen, creating a community of practice for superintendents who are committed to the transformation of their districts to support equitable access to deeper learning. Recently, he was the Pathway Coach Coordinator in the Linked Learning Office of Oakland Unified School District, supporting a community of practice for site-embedded Pathway Coaches, and before that a Pathway Coach with ConnectEd. John's first career was as an Outward Bound instructor, later becoming a high school art teacher. Along with his wife, Jessica, who is an English teacher at Oakland High School, he loves to backpack, practice meditation and yoga, and garden.

Rachel Hallquist Adjunct Professor l rachelhallquist@mac.com l LinkedIn Affiliated with EdD, Transformative Action in Education Dr. Rachel Hallquist is a National-Board Certified teacher, artist, arts researcher, mentor for new teachers, and a leader in the field of Art Education. She has served as a classroom teacher, art specialist and induction coach within the Mount Diablo Unified School District. She has served on art education advisory boards locally as well as for the California Department of Education and served as the Pacific Coast representative for the National Art Education Association's research working group. She currently works Mount Diablo Unified School District as a full-time mentor for new teachers. Rachel's research interests include new teacher development, teacher wellbeing, creativity, and arts-based research. Within a nurturing learning environment, Rachel's teaching approach is learner-center, interactive, and rooted in engaging learners in exploring and solving complex real-world problems.

Anne Zeman, EdD Adjunct Professor │azeman@Pacific.edu│LinkedIn Affiliated with EdD, Transformative Action in Education Dr. Anne Zeman is an educator who is passionate about making a positive difference in people's lives. She has served as a classroom teacher, the principal of three schools, a school district department director, and an assistant superintendent during her 40 years as a K-12 educator. Anne has overseen the curriculum and professional learning in the Elk Grove Unified School District, the fifth-largest district in California. She opened one of California's first non-charter virtual schools and has taught aspiring teachers and administrators in higher education settings. In her role of Assistant Superintendent in the Twin Rivers Unified School District, Anne oversaw 30 elementary schools and the English Learner Services Department. Teaching and learning are both close to Anne's heart. She leads and teaches with the intention of student-centered relevance in every lesson, regardless of the age or background of students.
