Ian received his M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale. As a multi-ethnic and humanistic counselor, he enjoys serving a broad range of clients as they seek to grow and heal as people. Ian's clinical interests include the treatment of trauma, identity exploration, and acculturative stress. He provides individual and group counseling, as well as campus outreach and psychoeducational workshops. He has worked in University settings, community mental health, a school-based clinic, and the Survivor Empowerment Center. Ian works from a Humanstic, Person-Centered framework which integrates aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy. 

Strengths of the Training Program:

  • The staff work to create a collaborative environment, where clinicians are able to learn and grow while providing high quality services to a diverse student population.
  • A triage system that seeks to meet ecah client where they are and provide the most benefit possible.
  • There are opportunities for training in Internal Family Systems, eating concerns, trauma-informed interventions, and couples therapy.
