Presidential search update: Feedback sought via forums and online survey

April 4, 2019

Dear University of the Pacific community,

During the week of April 15, representatives from Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates, the executive search firm selected to conduct the presidential search, will be on each campus to conduct a series of open forums designed to solicit your feedback regarding the position and the desired qualities of the next president. Your insights are important and will help inform the position profile and recruitment strategy.

Specifically, the search firm is interested in exploring the following with you:

  1. Based on your experience at Pacific, what do you see as the short-term (immediate) and long-term (three to five years) challenges and opportunities facing the next president?
  2. Given the opportunities and challenges you have described, what professional experiences and qualifications must the successful candidate possess? What personal qualities must the new president have to be a good fit with the Pacific community?
  3. What current ongoing initiatives must the president be informed about and be ready to guide to completion?
  4. What are the key positive attributes and most attractive features of Pacific and how might those be used to attract the right candidates?

Each stakeholder group will have a specified time to meet with the search firm as follows:

Tuesday, April 16:
San Francisco Campus, Dorfman Lecture Hall

  • Staff, 11 a.m.
  • Faculty, noon
  • Students, 1 p.m.

Tuesday, April 16:
Stockton Campus, Vereschagin Alumni House

  • Alumni, Donors and Community Leaders: 6 p.m.

Wednesday, April 17:
Stockton Campus, DeRosa University Center, Ballroom A

Thursday, April 18:
Sacramento Campus, Classroom B

  • Students: 12:15 p.m.
  • Faculty: 1:15 p.m.
  • Staff: 2:15 p.m.

To take full advantage of the forums, the consultants ask that you prepare your thoughts and comments prior to the meeting.

If you are unable to attend or would like to provide input privately, you can submit your comments and feedback using this survey.

Thank you for your participation in this important process.
