Leading Tigers Endowed Scholarship

A Letter From The ASuop President

Student leaders at Pacific enrich the social, cultural, and educational aspects of university life. Alumni who have served as student leaders have become

• Astronauts
• Elected Officials
• Leaders in our communities
• And even President of the University (shout out to Robert E. Burns)!

Students in leadership roles have played a critical role in the history of our University, which is a testament to the impact student leaders can make given the opportunity. It is no secret that higher education is becoming more difficult to afford, and Pacific is not immune to this challenging trend. Increasing costs have forced many would-be student leaders to spend their time working to make ends meet, rather than dedicating their time to pursuing their passion and developing skills that go beyond the classroom.

Now more than ever, Pacific needs strong, bold, and dedicated student leaders to commit themselves to various student organizations across campus. This is why I am seeking to create the Leading Tigers Endowed Scholarship, to reward those student leaders who have managed to go above and beyond in their roles, while also excelling academically.

In celebration of ASuop's 120th birthday, and all of the student leaders who have impacted Pacific for over a century, we are seeking to raise $50,000 by May of this year - the minimum required for an endowment and Powell Match. With it being such a significant milestone-year for ASuop, I believe we are at a critical point where early support can propel this scholarship into reality.

I ask that you join me in supporting these students who enhance our campus most, by making a contribution to establish this scholarship. An early commitment from you would be incredibly impactful, and would likely encourage many others to contribute as well.

With your help we can continue to support students who seek to be involved, and deserve the opportunity to become Leading Tigers.

Thank you,

Grant T. Kirkpatrick `19
ASuop President
