Q: Why did you decide to major in Media X?
A: I chose Media X because I've been into photography for a long time, and I also had friends that are into film. So when I found out about a program that incorporated those two and other disciplines I thought it was a perfect program for me.

Q: What has been your favorite course?
A: My favorite course that I've taken here is definitely the Business of Film class. I made a film with two of my friends, and it was probably the best thing I've ever made.

This fall we had two speakers  -- Dean Butler and Chris Schuler. They're both (Pacific) alumni and they helped us learn about the filmmaking process. And in that weekend of filmmaking, we actually made a promo video for Media X. It was challenging but really fun to just make a story in such a short period of time. We're definitely really lucky to have alumni like this who are involved in the media industry who come here and help us learn.

Q: What are your fellow Media X majors like?
A: I actually don't know most of the students in Media X, but I would say I know a good number and they're all very supportive and kind. And they all have goals that they want to pursue and I'd love to be able to help them. They're helping me along the way, too. So I think it's a really good program and everyone really collaborates.

Q: Has anything surprised you?
A: This semester my team and I worked on a film and we were allowed to use the Red camera, which is something that is used in (cinematography). When I first picked up the Red camera, I was definitely really nervous - I didn't want to drop it! But it became a really good experience. After seeing our film and the image quality, I knew it was worth it.

Q: What advice do you have for anyone considering Media X as a major?
A: I would tell anyone that's interested in majoring in Media X to go for it and dive into the program. Because so many classes at school count toward the Media X program, you can always try it out. There's so many different faculty members and students who will help you along the way and help you grow as a person.
