Procurement Services | About Us

Our Story

Procurement Services is taking a transformative approach to how the University purchases goods and services to maximize value while improving quality and service to our clients. We are transforming not only the way we do business, but the way we think about doing business. Using a collaborative approach, with an understanding of each individual campus's needs, risks, and requirements. We partner to assist users in making buying decisions with an eye towards delivering the most value and minimized risk to the University. We leverage the University's purchasing power and volume of spend, use the latest technology, explore master agreements, and build strong relationships, to source the highest quality products and services at the least total cost without sacrificing choice and quality. Developing strategic partnerships with our suppliers and university departments, we've found we can deliver more - better pricing and service, with better terms and conditions. It is our goal to deliver $500,000 in savings and 2% increased revenue by FY2020, which would be redirected to the University's core mission.

Vision

1. To be acknowledged by University of the Pacific board, executive and campus leadership, faculty, staff and students as a high performing strategic partner that is essential to the financial health of the University.

2. To be recognized for organizational excellence in procurement by receiving the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® (AEP) industry award by 2025. This prestigious award is earned by those organizations that demonstrate excellence by obtaining a high score based on standardized criteria.

Mission

To expand opportunities for agile and dynamic growth in alignment with 2020R to deliver savings and efficient procurement services across all three campuses.

Strategic Objectives

  • Develop collaborative partnerships at all levels across the University to understand needs and provide high quality procurement services that best meet objectives.
  • Pursue strategic initiatives in a coordinated manner that leverages the power of our collective spend and redirect savings in support of student learning - current and future - and aligned with institutional priorities.
  • Optimize resources, contracts and technologies across the University to deliver far greater returns than can be achieved by any single department working independently.
  • Drive down Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and promote new revenue opportunities through effective sourcing, contract management and supply chain solutions.
  • Partner with suppliers to cultivate business relationships and long term solutions that optimize value added benefits for the University.
