Pacific, Edison High alumnus elected to Pacific’s Board of Regents

Jun 29, 2018

The managing partner for an international investment firm who graduated from University of the Pacific and Edison High School has been named to the university's Board of Regents.

Bo Yu, managing partner for Pan Asia International Investment Limited and a 1993 graduate of Pacific's School of Engineering and Computer Science, will begin his three-year term on July 1.

"Bo's vast international experience in finance and technology will be invaluable as Pacific continues to grow its reputation as a place for students from around the world to come to pursue their purpose," said Pacific President Pamela A. Eibeck.

Yu graduated from Stockton's Edison High School in 1987 and attended San Joaquin Delta College before transferring to Pacific through the Community Involvement Program (CIP). He graduated in 1993 with a degree in electrical engineering. In March, he and his wife, Jess, expressed their appreciation by establishing the Bo and Jess Yu Endowed Scholarship to provide financial support for CIP students.

Yu joined Pan Asia International Investment Limited in February 2002 and for a time also was the vice president and general manager of China operations for the financial firm Baird (2005-06). Earlier he was an executive consultant at global telecommunications company Alcatel-Lucent (1999-01) and the chief representative in China for defense and engineering group ST Electronics (1996-98). Prior to that, he was the regional sales manager for Asia for manufacturer Saint-Gobain (1995-96) and, after graduating from Pacific, Yu became a project engineer at technology company ABB in San Ramon (1992-94).

The couple lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with their two children.

Pacific's Board of Regents is entrusted with final responsibility for the quality and integrity of the education provided by the university. It selects the university president, approves the mission of the university, and ensures provision of adequate resources to support that mission. In addition, the board protects the university from external pressures antithetical to academic freedom and to university autonomy or integrity.
