Collaboration Vision Team Innovation Proposal: Center for Digital Media Arts
The future is becoming more digital, mobile, virtual, and personal, stated Doherty. The Pacific Center for Digital Media and Arts (CDMA) is a needed program. It is dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary scholarly activities and furthering the university's commitment to innovative uses of technology. The Center will engage faculty and students in scholarly activities, sponsor performances, and help produce interactive media projects. It will offer a curriculum leading to a BA degree. Students will be prepared to succeed in fields such as graphic design and media production, digital imaging, computer animation, film and music industries, game design, web development, and more. The CDMA will provide tech-savvy students to support the development of new media and instructional materials for the University.
CVT Budgets
Brodnick distributed revenue estimates for each of the CVT proposals. Included were enrollment, rate, tuition, fundraising, totals, and fully mature expenses. After reviewing the budgets, Brodnick suggested that out of the 13 proposals presented, the following 7 would probably be ready this fall:
- Bioinformatics Collaborative Initiative
- Nanotechnology Initiative
- Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship
- Graduate Programs in International Development
- Global Security Law & Policy
- First Year Experience
- Certificate in Civic Leadership
After much discussion, Gilbertson requested that Brodnick draft a letter of response to committee members ranking each of the proposals.
Because of the extended amount of time focused on the CVT proposals, the remaining agenda item will be discussed at a future meeting.
