Minutes: Minutes of the May 24 meeting were reviewed and approved.

Standing Reports:

Gilbertson announced the names of the new members that will replace outgoing members: Joe Brennan is replacing Steve Jacobson; Mindy Kreitzman (student) is replacing Brian Dugoni (student); Larry Spreer is replacing Ron Hoverstad.

Options for next year's meeting schedule were introduced by Brodnick. It was decided that every other Tuesday from 2-4 will be the new meeting time beginning August 30.

Current Agenda Items:

Economic Impact Study

Gilbertson introduced Sean Snaith who gave a brief presentation of the Economic Impact Study and the Business Forecasting Center. The Center produces quarterly economic forecasts of the United States, California and 11 metropolitan areas from Sacramento to Fresno from the San Francisco Bay Area. The Center offers other services ranging from economic impact analyses to survey research and market sizing and forecasting. Sean's office is located in the Eberhardt School of Business.

Consideration of Adding the CIO as (third) Staff to the IPC (pilot for one year)

The need to focus on renewed effort on serving the university community was discussed by Gilbertson. The idea of adding the CIO as a member to the IPC may be a vital tool in the development of a better understanding of university technology within the university community and providing a better connection between the two. A one year pilot would be helpful in determining the addition. The committee supported the recommendation.

Budget Assumptions and Planning Guidelines

Conversation was led by Gilbertson regarding the revision of the Mission, Vision & Priorities (MVP) of the University. Spreer suggested an attempt to revise the academic side. One major concern is lab fees. They are "pretty hefty". Brennan's biggest concern was the housing market and the negative impact it may have on the hiring of new faculty. Kreitzman adamantly focused on the need for additional on-campus housing. She stated that, "students really want to live on campus". Editing of the document will be done and further discussion will resume at the August meeting. A number of edits were made to the document with additional data to be updated by Perro, Byl, and Brodnick. A draft will be reviewed at the next meeting.

Next meeting: August 30, 2005, 2-4pm

Meeting adjourned at 3:43
